Goodwood to feature most expensive grid

The annual Goodwood Revival kicks off next weekend and the organisers reckon they've assembled the most expensive grid of cars to ever appear together in one race.

Independent automotive auctioneer, Bonhams, has valued the cars competing in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race at a massive £85-million.

The TT race celebrates the RAC TT races that took place in Goodwood between 1960 and 1964 and is open to closed-cockpit GT cars. The race runs for an hour and features two drivers per car.

Some of the fantastic machinery on the grid includes a Jaguar E-type Lightweight, Ferrari 250 GT SWB, GTO and 330 LMB, AC Cobra and two original Shelby American Cobra Daytonas, an Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato and Project 214 plus several Chevrolet Corvettes.

It isn't only the cars that are of interest either, as some big motorsport names will take the wheels of these prized possessions. Derek Bell, Martin Brundle, Patrick Tambay, Jean-Marc Gounon, Christian Horner, Richard Attwood and Jackie Oliver are all confirmed for the race.

The 2008 Goodwood Revival runs from 19-21 September.
