Remade Acura TL to launch with sticker price of $35,715

The facelifted Acura TL sedan will start with a base price of $35,715 when it launches Sept. 24.

The all-wheel-drive version starts at $39,265 and hits showrooms in November. The top-shelf TL--with AWD, a technology package and 19-inch alloy wheels--is $43,995. Prices include shipping charges.

Acura gave the sedan a considerable workover after sales slipped in recent years. Up front, the grille is considerably bolder, and the headlights slant back into the fenders. It's also longer and wider than the previous model.

The powertrain has been reinforced with an upgraded aluminum V6, which increases displacement from 3.2 liters to 3.5 liters and is rated at 280 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. A new, aluminum 3.7-liter V6 unit also is available and pumps out 305 hp and 273 lb-ft.

For technophiles, the technology package adds a 10-speaker sound system, a navigation system with voice recognition, leather seats and other amenities.
