Ferrari 599 XX, Ferrari GTO 599 - Fastest Road-Legal Car Ever
“One of the most significant innovations on the Ferrari GTO 599,” Ferrari said in its news release, “is the close correlation between the chassis set-up, which is close to the handling limit, and the input from the electronic controls, which are developed to increase overall levels of performance.”
This is the fastest road-going Ferrari ever built — a lightweight, V12-powered coupe that is a masterpiece of competition-style detailing. It could makes people frozen with widened eyes and opened mouths. Even the crooked old woman knows that this car is special, even for Ferrari. Ferrari built only 599 of these GTOs with prices reaching close to $500,000, and already all of them are sold. That’s not surprised at all.

In fact the 599 GTO is based on the Ferrari 599 XX, the advanced experimental track car, and can be considered almost a road-going version. It’s still a little down on the 720bhp produced by the Ferrari 599 XX, but it’s the same headline figure as the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV… It is an exclusive limited edition special which, in true Ferrari tradition, is a completely new concept, albeit inspired by a production car. The company describes it as "an extreme V12 berlinetta developed to a specific performance-oriented brief" and go a step forward to say it is the fastest road car ever.
Output from the 6.0-liter V12 – itself derived from the Enzo's engine – is up from 612 horsepower to 661 (493 kW / 670 PS), with torque up a modest 9 lb-ft to 457 (619 Nm). It enables the 1495 kg (3295 lb) supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.35 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). Thanks to the powerful engine, the Ferrari GTO 599 can lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 24 seconds - a full second faster than the Enzo. We dare any other automaker to try to top the performance of this maniacal machine. This car leaves McLarens and Porsches in the dust. More importantly, a crash diet that size-zero supermodels would be proud of has cut 195kg from the 599’s kerb weight – the Ferrari GTO 599 tips the scales at 1495kg.

Besides the aerodynamic tweaks, the overlords in Modena decided to put the Ferrari GTO 599 on a diet. As such, the GTO features thinner aluminum, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a lightweight six-speed transmission (which can shift in 60 milliseconds).
Despite the weight saving, the interior is nicely equipped. Goodies include carbon fiber gearshift paddles, a Virtual Race Engineer (a system that monitors the car's status and gives feedback on vehicle performance), carbon fiber trim, and a leather/alcantara steering wheel.

Ferrari GTO 599 - Overview
The Ferrari GTO 599 may not have the supercar looks of a McLaren MP4-12C or a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, but it should be right up there with those two in terms of speed and quickness. The 599 GTO’s more aggressive character is also apparent in a number of styling elements that recall the Ferrari 599 XX and from the powerful sound of the V12.
