“I’m really looking forward to being back at the race track after a bit of a rollercoaster season since winning at Daytona in February,” said King. “Richie Wauters is a veteran crew chief with the most sought-after equipment and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to drive for him and Ford. Racing is what I love to do and I’m hoping to give Richie and the guys on the Wauters Motorsports team a solid finish in Kentucky.”
Wauters Motorsports returns to the series for the first time since Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the team posted their best finish in 2012 of fifth-place with Aric Almirola as the driver. King scored a 15th-place finish in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2010. To date, he has posted one win and two Top-10 finishes in 12 starts.
“I’m looking forward to having John in the truck with us this weekend,” said Wauters. “He is a good short track driver and comes from the Late Model Series, which I feel teaches these young drivers how to handle the equipment better when moving up the ladder into the NASCAR divisions.”
