One year ago, Carl Edwards lost the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship to Tony Stewart, in a tiebreaker. Now, however, Edwards – and others – can change history by playing NASCAR The Game: Inside Line.
The recently released NASCAR The Game: Inside Line allows players to rewrite history by reliving race highlights and trying to change the outcome; a new feature made possible due to the implementation of telemetry data gathered from actual race cars. This complex tracking system measures data from real NASCAR races and pinpoints the exact distance between all the vehicles on track at any given time.
Game designer Eutechnyx has used this information to recreate 14 different “Challenges;” race scenarios that are re-created exactly as they occurred in real life, with each car precisely where it needs to be. Using this new technology, players can replay the day last November when Tony Stewart passed nine drivers in the last three laps to win at Homestead-Miami Speedway; re-creating or changing the outcome of the race, as they see fit.
Also on the list of Challenges is the day Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was on the verge of ending his winless drought at Charlotte Motor Speedway, only to run out of gas in the final two laps. Now, Junior fans can go back in time and try to conserve enough fuel to finish the race and alter the course of history. The game will ship with 14 “Challenges.”
