At the start of sales, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be offered in two versions: with normal wheelbase and a length of 5,116 mm (W 222) and with long wheelbase and a length of 5,246 mm (V 222). The standard variant comes equipped with the AIRMATIC pneumatic suspension, the Active Damping System, the Crosswind Assist and ADAPTIVE BRAKE. Other features include the new generation COMAND Online with a large LCD screen, TFT displays for the back seats, a multifunctional, 2-spoke steering wheel, the innovative Frontbass for the sound system, as well as front seats with multiple massage functions, the enhanced PRE-SAFE crash anticipatory system and the LED high-performance lighting system.
Among the highlights of the new S-Class, we found worth mentioning the MAGIC BODY CONTROL with ROAD SURFACE SCAN which improves dynamic behaviour and overall ride comfort, the 360-degree stereo multi-purpose camera, the Brake Assist PLUS, the complete dynamic assistance package which comprises DISTRONIC PLUS with steer function (PRE-SAFE Plus), Speed Limit Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Night View Assist Plus with improved person/animal recognition, and the full LED Intelligent Light System.
At the start of sales this July, a choice of three engines will be available to customers:
- S 350 BlueTEC with 258 hp
- S 400 HYBRID with 306 hp
- S 500 with 455 hp
The new S-Class also offers numerous customization possibilities: no less than eleven different exterior colour finishes, ten upholsteries (cloth and leather) and five models of trim (wood and metal). The designo programme will also deliver further solutions to create a one-of-a-kind S-Class.
