The new BRABUS B63 - 620 WIDESTAR based on the Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG

Muscular fender flares front and back, high-tech forged wheels with a diameter of 23 inches, a striking front with large air inlets and a 5.5-liter Biturbo V8 engine producing 456.3 kW / 620 hp (611 bhp) of power: BRABUS introduces the BRABUS B63 - 620 WIDESTAR based on the new Mercedes GL 63 AMG.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR body conversion for the new GL-Class is characterized by the striking fender flares front and back that add eight centimeters (3.1 in.) to the width of the grand SUV.

The large air inlets of the BRABUS WIDESTAR front element give it an even more bullish appearance and optimize the supply of fresh air for radiators and front brakes. Its sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds and thus optimizes directional stability.

From the rear, the wide-body version is even more striking thanks to the roof spoiler and the rear element made by BRABUS. The thrilling BRABUS appearance includes a diffuser integrated into the fascia and the precise-fit cutouts for the distinctive ceramics-coated tailpipes of the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system with butterfly valve.

All BRABUS bodywork components are manufactured in OEM quality from high-grade PUR plastics to ensure optimal fit and perfect paintability.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR wide-body version also creates space for extreme-sized tires. The large wheel wells of the GL-Class offer just enough space for 23-inch high-tech forged wheels. The BRABUS "Platinum Edition" 11Jx23 alloys are available in three popular designs: Monoblock E evo, F and R. State-of-the-art forging technology makes the "Platinum Edition" wheels particularly light despite offering outstanding strength and stress resistance. Compared with a conventional cast wheel of identical size, these alloys represent weight savings up to 15 percent. All BRABUS forged wheels can be identified immediately by the stainless-steel "Platinum Edition" emblem.

The suitable high-performance street tires in size 305/30 R 23 are supplied by BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.

The new Mercedes GL-Class can alternatively be equipped with 21-inch forged Monoblock VI or F wheels, 22-inch Monoblock VI, E, Q and R cast wheels or BRABUS Monoblock G "PLATINUM EDITION" forged wheels.

The BRABUS control module for GL models with AIRMATIC air suspension is specifically calibrated to the sporty tire/wheel combination. It lowers the ride height of the vehicle by about 30 millimeters (1.2 inches).

To further enhance active safety, the SUV can be equipped with a BRABUS high-performance brake system. It consists of six-piston aluminum fixed calipers gripping vented and cross-drilled front discs measuring 405 x 34 millimeters (15.9 x 1.3 inches). The rear axle stops with discs measuring 380 x 34 mm (15.0 x 1.3 inches) and four-piston fixed calipers.

BRABUS offers the world’s most extensive engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles, which obviously also benefits the new GL 63 AMG: the 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo engine receives an impressive power upgrade with the BRABUS B63 - 620 performance kit. This kit is already available for all other AMG 63 models powered by an eight-cylinder Biturbo engine.

The BRABUS B63 - 620 PowerXtra module is integrated into the engine electronics as a plug-and-play device. It features new mapping for injection and ignition and provides a moderate increase in boost pressure. Maximum power output jumps from standard 410 kW / 557 hp to 456.3 kW / 620 hp (549 bhp to 611 bhp) at a low 5,750 rpm. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 760 to 820 Nm (560 lb-ft to 604 lb-ft), steadily available on a plateau between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm. The high-tech lubricants for the entire powertrain are supplied by technology partner MOTUL.

The tuned SUV zooms to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).

The BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system lends the all-wheel-drive vehicle an appealing rear appearance. At the push of a button on the steering wheel it also produces an especially exhilarating V8 exhaust note. The integrated butterfly valve lets the driver choose between a particularly quiet “coming home” and a sport mode. The latter produces a full-blooded V8 sound.

Exclusive interior options are another BRABUS specialty: for the new Mercedes GL 63 AMG BRABUS offers stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, exclusive BRABUS all-leather interiors crafted from a masterfully finished combination of the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara. The vehicle on display is a prime example for the precision craftsmanship applied by the BRABUS upholsterers: the interior design features a pattern of exact squares that all were sewn with utmost precision.

The BRABUS B63 - 620 WIDESTAR model on display at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show is furnished with especially exclusive yacht-design wood appointments, with feature countless miniature pieces dovetailed together like the deck of a ship.

The sporty character of the vehicle is rounded out by the speedometer with 320-km/h dial (200 mph) and aluminum components such as pedals, door pins and longer BRABUS aluminum shift paddles.

BRABUS at the Geneva Motor Show 2013

BRABUS, one of the most prominent Mercedes-Benz tuners in the industry, brings at the 2013 edition of the Geneva Motor Show a host of outstanding novelties.

The Swiss automotive event heralds the advent of the mighty BRABUS 800 Roadster based on the SL 65 AMG R 231 generation, packing 800 hp and a staggering peak torque of 1,420 Nm. Moreover, the CLS 63 AMG, in its Coupe and Shooting Brake guises, also gets a boost thanks to the special B63S - 730 engine kit which raises the maxmium output up to, you guessed it, 730 hp. Last, but not least, more WIDESTAR equipped SUVs are now available in the BRABUS lineup. The B63S - 620 performance package now sharpens the senses of the ML 63 AMG and GL 63 AMG, with both models now capable of 620 hp and wearing the unmistakable widebody kit. The Bottrop-based tuner has gone even more insane after the engineers got their hands onto the already mindblowing G 65 AMG. The new BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR model for the Geländewagen now cranks out 800 hp and a striking exterior customization.

The new BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR based on the Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG: World debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2013

588 kW / 800 hp and 1,420 Nm instead of the standard-spec 450 kW / 612 hp: With the BRABUS 800 engine conversion, BRABUS offers owners of the new Mercedes G 65 AMG a fascinating performance upgrade. A sprint time of just 4.2 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph), an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and the optional BRABUS WIDESTAR wide-body version complete with 23-inch BRABUS forged wheels available in various versions set the tuned off-roader far apart from the rest. The electrically adjustable BRABUS Ride Control suspension offers a perfect symbiosis of excellent ride comfort and safe, agile handling.

The BRABUS 800 engine conversion unleashes the power reserves inherent in the 6.0-liter V12 Biturbo engine. To this end the BRABUS engine specialists developed a high-tech Biturbo system. The exhaust manifolds custom-designed for the G 65 AMG with integrated turbine housings and high-performance turbochargers optimize throttle response and produce a higher boost pressure than the production turbos. Four water-to-air intercoolers arranged under the BRABUS carbon-fiber hood scoop ensure lower charge-air temperatures. This benefits power yield and durability even under extreme conditions such as in the desert. The optimized engine air supply is provided by two air filter boxes in the front fenders.

On the exhaust side there is a BRABUS stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts and a sound management system courtesy of a butterfly valve in the exhaust. The high-tech exhaust is controlled with a button on the steering wheel. The V12 can purr discreetly in “coming home” mode or shout out its exhilarating power in the sport position. The sport exhaust adds some visual excitement with its two dual tailpipes – with regular or black chrome finish – exiting on both sides in front of the rear wheels.

The newly programmed engine electronics with special mapping for injection and ignition coordinates the perfect interaction of the high-performance components while at the same time ensuring compliance with EURO V emission standards. The high-performance lubricants for the entire powertrain are supplied by technology partner MOTUL.

The BRABUS 800 engine produces 588 kW / 800 hp (788 bhp) / at a low 5,500 rpm and an even more impressive peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), already on tap from 2,100 rpm. In the vehicle, peak torque is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

The vehicle performance speaks volumes: In combination with the seven-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive system the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds. The top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph). Without the limiter the high-performance off-roader would be capable of reaching a speed of 270 km/h (168 mph).

It goes without saying that BRABUS goes beyond simply tuning the engine of the G 65 AMG. The designers lend the classic G-Class body updated for 2013 an even more striking and dynamic profile with the WIDESTAR wide-body version. The front of the off-roader is characterized, among other things, by the powerfully sculpted fender flares. The BRABUS front spoiler, which also fits any G 63 or G 65 without WIDESTAR conversion, attaches to the production fascia and features integrated LED daytime running lights on both sides. But that’s not all: The BRABUS logos integrated into both sides of the aerodynamics component are activated by pulling on a door handle or by operating the keyless-entry remote.

The new look for the front is further defined by the front grille with integrated BRABUS logo and an additional panel below the radiator grille. The BRABUS front-end components are also available for all G 65 AMG models without WIDESTAR conversion. The same applies to the BRABUS rear fascia and the BRABUS roof spoiler.

The fender flares front and back add 12 centimeters (4.7 inches) to the width of the G-Class body. Integrated LEDs illuminate the running boards of the G 65. They are also activated by pulling on a door handle or by operating the keyless-entry remote. The integrated air vents and the BRABUS attachment components on the doors add further striking highlights when viewed from the side.

The widened wheel wells provide space for BRABUS forged wheels with a diameter of 23 inches. State-of-the-art manufacturing technology ensures that these wheels represent an ideal combination of lightweight design and maximum strength. There are three BRABUS “Platinum Edition” 11Jx23 wheels to choose from: In addition to the popular Monoblock E evo and Monoblock F “Platinum Edition” designs, there is now also the BRABUS Monoblock R “Platinum Edition” forged wheel. This design has nine double spokes arranged in two matt titanium and fully polished planes. It is fitted with high-performance tires in size 305/35 R 23 from BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA.

Another BRABUS high-tech feature is the Ride Control suspension developed in cooperation with technology partner BILSTEIN. An aluminum button sporting the BRABUS logo on the center console lets the driver manually choose between two setups for the two-way electrically adjustable shock absorbers. In comfort mode the off-roader provides exemplary ride comfort that even surpasses the production car. At higher speeds and for a spirited driving style the firmer sports setting offers more dynamic handling and even further increased safety reserves.

Furthermore, the BRABUS Ride Control suspension features automatic damper adjustment. If the vehicle sensors detect that certain parameters such as speed, lateral acceleration and steering angle might lead to a critical handling situation, the system autonomously switches to the firmer sports setting in the blink of an eye. The sportier damper setup further improves the directional stability of the all-wheel-drive vehicle. In return the CAN control unit also recognizes when the driver reverts to a more moderate driving style. In that event the system automatically switches back to the comfort position.

The interior of the G 65 AMG can be custom-tailored to the owner’s personal preferences in the BRABUS upholstery shop. The choice of colors for the especially softy and breathable BRABUS Mastik leather and the fine Alcantara is virtually limitless. Just as boundless is the selection of upholstery designs and the variety of exclusive wood or carbon-fiber inlays. In this area as well BRABUS can fulfill special color requests and designs, including wood inlays in an especially exclusive yachting design.

The BRABUS product range also includes stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo and further attractive accessories such as high-quality velour floor mats and BRABUS aluminum pedals and door-lock pins.
