Early Reveal: Step inside the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class

If the exterior photos with the new S-Class were not enough for today, a set of interior pics has also leaked on the internet shortly after. Most probably, Mercedes-Benz executives are in shock after this unexpected uncover of their crucial luxury flagship.

The majority of these interior shots are taken in dark light, so not many details are accesible to the naked eye. However, due to ambience lighting, one cam make most of the general design of the passenger shuttle. Many already knew how the dashboard of the new S-Class looked months before such images ever hit the interwebs, because several interior scoops appeared through time joining the usual spy pics of test prototypes.

The centrepoints of this mindblowing inner design are the two-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with chic factor (a tribute paid to 1960s predecessors W 108/W 109 and W 111/W 112 model series) and the impressive displays - the digital instrument cluster and the LCD for the new @yourCOMAND internet-based infotainment system. The center console is minimal but also extravagant as well, comprising four rounded air vents, the glossy analogue clock and the easy-access controls for HVAC. Another highlight is the large slab of wood that surrounds the cabin using the mid-section of the dashboard and the upper part of the door covers. Besides that, the atmosphere of wellbeing and refinement is further encompassed by the use of aluminium and stitched, two-tone or monochrome leather upholstery, in various colours, styles and consistencies, on both front and rear seats as well as on select portions of the dashboard. Thus, you can hardly find visible plastic, even though it is mainly good quality, soft-appearance, foam-injected type.

The centre tunnel which houses the armrests and further commands (like the rotary controller for the infotainment system and the ride dynamics controls) extends from front to rear, so the new S-Class becomes a vehicle with 4-seat architecture instead of the previous 5-seat organization. Furthermore, upon request, the front seats can be equipped with rear-facing displays for the entertainment of backseat passengers. Last, but not least, the intelligent seats have massage, heating and ventilation functions (that each passenger can modify from the corresponding door-placed seat-like controls), but also work together with safety systems (such as PRE-SAFE) and active ride technologies (MAGIC RIDE CONTROL, MAGIC BODY CONTROL), to ensure everyone stays firmly, yet highly comfortably attached to their own seat. Nonetheless, the rear belts can be optionally fitted with the state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind Beltbag, which succesfully replaces the Sidebag and works in conjuction with the Windowbag to further increase security level.

The new Burmester professional high-performance audio system will transform the new S-Class into a four-wheeled concert hall. Furthermore, the soundproof technology and the aerodynamic, low-Cd body ensure minimal NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) values and improve acoustics. The select touch is further enhanced by the presence of ambience lighting technology in different, customizable colours, as well as the perfume dispenser-atomizer, located in the dashboard compartment, which, at times (again, this can also be programmed), sprays the cabin with pleasant flavours to refresh the atmosphere inside the new S-Class.

So, now take a deep breath and start dreaming while you enjoy the pictures of this remarkable interior. Truly, the new S-Class is now, more than ever in the past, the epitome of automotive luxury.

Early Reveal: The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught "naked" during promo shooting

After years of Mercedes-Benz holding a complete secret over its new luxury flagship, the "security" barrier was breached today as spy photographers managed to sneak beyond "enemy" lines and take pictures of a completely undisguised S-Class 222 model series.

The S-Class you see in these captures features a long wheelbase (look at the longer rear doors), so this vehicle gets the internal designation V 222 unlike the SWB (standard or short wheelbase) variant which is codenamed W 222. Given its special licence plate (S : W 2226 - W 222 for the model series and 6 for the 6th generation), the car was probably being used for filming some promo materials (pictures and presentation videos) for the Mercedes-Benz network websites and for the webspecial page the Germans are readying for the launch of the new S-Class.

The pictured 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class wears the bespoke AMG Sport coat and boasts a shining silver paint job. What strikes the most is the simply perfectly balanced silhouette of the car. The proportions and all the minute details visible in these photos were carefully mastered for maximum effect.

The new front end is highly dynamic: the large-sized, four-louvred lamella radiator grille placed upright harks back to luxury ancestors from the 60s and 70s, while the full LED headlights display some mindblowing inner graphics that are set to look fabulous when seen on street or in the mirrors.

The alloy wheels the car was equipped with replicate jet airplane turbines through their design and certainly look astonishing when the S-Class is in motion. The discrete dropping line, the new door handles and the bigger exterior mirrors and certain refined, chromed lines complete the sporty, yet elegant styling of the side profile.

The rear end sports a timeless design with its beautifully carved elements. The gorgeous LED tail lamps and the new double exhaust pipes accentuate the new S-Class as the all-time trendsetter and leader of the premium luxury segment.

If some were suggesting the 222 generation is in fact an evolution of the 221 series, then they could not be wronger. While not entirely an artistic revolution, it is certainly a head turner and a complete departure from the current model.

Hopefully, we will receive more details from inside the company during the next weeks till the official premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class takes place on May 15th in Hamburg.

SPECIAL: The new F1 W04 car almost revealed

MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS has engaged F1 maniacs from all over the world to take part in a special online reveal of team's brand new 2013 title contender, the F1 W04. The task is to deliver as many tweets containing the hashtag #F1W04Reveal in order for the digital replica of the car, posted in the header section of the website ( www.mercedes-amg-f1.com ) to become visible from the garage it is standing in. Who knows, maybe the F1 W04 will be unveiled online in the following hours, thanks to everybody's contribution.

The public premiere will happen tomorrow in Spain, at the Jerez circuit. In the morning, the paddock area will be all set-up to receive the new Silver Arrow from 13:30 (CET), according to latest reports.

Using some techniques to brighten and contrast the image, we have somehow revealed the shape and some of the details of the new F1 W04 still hidden in darkness. All in all, the car is an evolution of the W03 version, only that the new W04 marks the return to the beautiful F1 nose (visually close to the nose on the 2011 W02 model) - so farewell to the ugly stepped architecture. In fact, this here aerodynamic measure is still retained, but it got covered with a panel, as F1 regulations offer the permission to do that. The front wing also seems to be intricately profiled to increase flow of air and added track performance. Tomorrow, we will see more details of the car as the first pre-season winter test session kicks off at Jerez.

We too have tweeted #F1W04Reveal - if you are kind, you should do the same for the sake of this funny game! :)
