Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Details

“What could be more romantic than open air motoring or even the sound of rain on a soft-top at night?”- Ian Cameron, Chief Designer

It displays a sociable character and its joyful interior creates the feeling of being on a gentle motor yacht. It offers both driver and passengers a dual experience - intimate and surfing or embracing the factors relying on whether the roof is raised or lowered. The car epitomizing romance, performance motoring; and its creation is from the inspiration of the J-class racing yachts of 1930s.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Couple is a British handmade convertible manufactured by Rolls-Royce that first introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, in January 2007. The platform was based on the 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom and its style was derived from the 100EX.

The appearance keeps a loyalty to the theme of the 100EX. The two-door four-seat convertible features behind opening coach doors and a two-tone color scheme that draws between the upper and lower  bodywork and frames the teak wood paneling of the convertible's tonneau cover.

The major difference of the middle bodywork/raised bonnet/grille assemblage terminates midway down the face rather than continuing downwards and bisecting the front bumper. The headlamps are also taken straight out of the 100EX. The round "faux-fog lamp" driving lights are projector-style xenon arc lamps, and the deep set rectangular high beams are light-emitting diode (LED) units. There are more than 44,000 color mixtures for the outside.

Aluminum technology and hand-crafted materials are also combined here.

The new Adaptive LED Headlamps make Phantom a striking modern look that is instantly identifiable by day or by night. The dipped and high beam functions illuminating the top and bottom sections are attached with the light clusters, which have a glowing bar of LED Daytime Running Lamps through the centre,

Phantom Drophead Coupé's optional brushed steel bonnet features a hand-applied brushed finish, which gives the bonnet a soft sheen. Accentuating the lines of the car it creates an unbroken flow of bright steel that runs from the grille, around the A-frame windscreen surround and along the waistline of the passenger compartment and tonneau cover.
