PORSCHE RACING CARS

PORSCHE RACING CARS - THE LEADING CHOICE OF WORLDWIDE RACERS
Porsche stamina in racing has been sustained for 50 years. Along with the history of Porsche racing, varieties of this brand’s race cars models have been introduced every year to race enthusiasts. The first 356 aluminum coupe had hardly left the workshop in the company's former Gmund headquarters in Austria, when Porsche cars began making headlines at national and international events. Today, GT racing enjoys a high priority at the Stuttgart-based company. But sportscars stand proudly in the glorious racing history, too, highlighted by 14 marques and team championships, nine sportscar drivers´ world titles and uncountable victories.

And the following is listing of Porsche typical racing cars models:

911 GT3 RSR (Type 997) represents the crowning pinnacle of a range of successful customer sport race cars based on the 997 type 911 GT3 RS street sports car.

911 GT3 R (Type 997) is the extremely popular model for its forgiving handling and basic speed, and it signals Porsche ‘s success in creating such a renovation model for 2012 with the engine output increasing by 20hp to now deliver 500hp (358KW) . 911 GT3 R represents the mid-range of Porsche’s customer racing vehicles. The design is made based on international FIA GT3 regulations.

911 GT3 Cup (Type 997)
The 2012-spec Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is based on the lightweight 911 GT3 RS (997) street sports car. The power unit is much identical to the production engine of the 911 GT3 RS with the same output of 450 bhp and the same maximum engine speed of 8,500 rpm. A race exhaust system with a controlled catalytic converter keeps emissions to a minimum.

911 GT3 R Hybrid
Porsche built a completely new vehicle to the same design around the new regulations, lowered the weight, upped the electrical drive to the front wheels to 200 bhp and set out to run the same lap times.
Designed and built by Porsche R&D, the general layout of the 2011 911 GT3 R Hybrid remains quite similar to that of the 2010 model - a portal axle with two electric motors drives the front wheels while a detuned, 448 bhp four-liter flat-six drives the rear wheels.

One of the priorities for the development of the second generation 911 GT3 R Hybrid was the improvement of efficiency of the hybrid components, which resulted in a 20 percent reduction in overall weight of the hybrid system.

Unlike most other hybrids, which store their regenerative brake sourced hybrid energy in electrical form in a battery or super-capacitor, this task in the Porsche is achieved by an electric flywheel accumulator. The flywheel rotor spins up to 40,000 rpm and stores energy mechanically as kinetic energy.

Besides basic models mentioned above, there are many other models of race cars by Porsche: Porsche 914-6, Porsche 930 twin turbo 3200cc, Porsche 944 Turbo, Porsche 944 Track only car, Porsche 944 Turbo, Porsche 924s, Porsche Carrera S, Porsche 996 GT3 Cup, etc.
