The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will soon arrive on the market and it is proper we see the first of the high-performance variants destined to debut this year. To be exact, the all new S 63 AMG will be officially introduced this fall at Frankfurt, with sales starting later on towards the end of 2013.
The eight-cylinder beast packs the familiar M157 5.5-litre petrol unit combining direct, high-pressure injection and biturbo-charging to deliver near 577 hp in its standard iteration, according to insiders. The peak torque is expected to reach some pretty impressive values - near 750 Nm. When unveiled, the new S 63 AMG will come in the two wheelbase versions known from the S-Class: W 222 (SWB) and V 222 (LWB).
When you have an outrageous power potential underneath the engine hood, it is also indicated to have a well tamed traction. For the amateurs of adrenaline sensations, the S 63 AMG will be offered with the traditional rear-driven platform. For those wanting to play safely and predictably, Mercedes-Benz is premiering the Performance 4MATIC sports AWD traction on the new S 63 AMG as well, after it has already become available on the E 63 and CLS 63 models.
The baseline output variant with 577 hp will be available in both RWD and 4x4 configuration, whereas the high-end S-Model will solely come equipped with the Performance 4MATIC system. The S 63 AMG S-Model should boast around 595 - 600 hp and 800 - 850 Nm, given the increased performance level on the standard version.
