SPY: The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG (W/V 222) spotted on the Nordschleife

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will soon arrive on the market and it is proper we see the first of the high-performance variants destined to debut this year. To be exact, the all new S 63 AMG will be officially introduced this fall at Frankfurt, with sales starting later on towards the end of 2013.

The eight-cylinder beast packs the familiar M157 5.5-litre petrol unit combining direct, high-pressure injection and biturbo-charging to deliver near 577 hp in its standard iteration, according to insiders. The peak torque is expected to reach some pretty impressive values - near 750 Nm. When unveiled, the new S 63 AMG will come in the two wheelbase versions known from the S-Class: W 222 (SWB) and V 222 (LWB).

When you have an outrageous power potential underneath the engine hood, it is also indicated to have a well tamed traction. For the amateurs of adrenaline sensations, the S 63 AMG will be offered with the traditional rear-driven platform. For those wanting to play safely and predictably, Mercedes-Benz is premiering the Performance 4MATIC sports AWD traction on the new S 63 AMG as well, after it has already become available on the E 63 and CLS 63 models.

The baseline output variant with 577 hp will be available in both RWD and 4x4 configuration, whereas the high-end S-Model will solely come equipped with the Performance 4MATIC system. The S 63 AMG S-Model should boast around 595 - 600 hp and 800 - 850 Nm, given the increased performance level on the standard version.

Early Reveal: Mercedes-Benz "accidentally" takes the wraps off the 2014 S 63 AMG

Following the entrance into production of the all new S-Class, Mercedes-Benz published a set of pictures and, consequently, a presentation promo (which you see posted below) on the assembly process going on at the Sindelfingen plant. The film features a just readied S 63 AMG model, showcased in all of its splendour.

Hardly an accident and more of a controlled leak strategy from Mercedes-Benz, as every body can witness the full vehicle without any problem. The rear end baring the "S 63" emblem on the boot lid is also being presented for a couple of seconds towards the end of the video. And, last but not least, each one of us can notice the different air intakes at the front, the V8 AMG lettering on the side wings and the differently styled alloy wheels with sports design. We would have liked to see a more aggressive design on the front fascia, but probably "Less is more", so we will have to wait for proper images to appear in order to judge the whole car.

First real and official details and pictures on the 8-cylinder high-performance limousine from Affalterbach are set to come in mid-July, as the market launch of the W 222 S-Class generation happen on day 20 of the next month. The new S 63 AMG comes equipped with the latest technology from Mercedes-AMG and gets its power from the 5.5-litre BITURBO engine, which was tuned to deliver around 570 hp specially for this model. In its S-Model declination, the S 63 AMG boasts the intelligent Performance 4MATIC rear-biased traction and an output boost up to 585 hp or even more.

SPY - The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG (W 222) scooped in South Africa

Thanks to last week's premature leak, we managed to find out earlier than planned how the new S-Class looks design-wise. If the standard variant boasts an epic style, then the AMG models should indeed be dramatic and powerful.

Latest shots come from South Africa, where the future S 63 AMG is undergoing a series of tests, part of the usual road development. The high-performance will distinguish itself from the standard-spec S-Class through the revised front apron with larger intakes, the large alloy wheels and the all-so-known AMG rear treatment comprising quad exhausts and a mighty diffuser.

The technical package includes the V8 BITURBO engine with a total displacement of 5.5 litres. If the current generation hits the barrier of 544 hp, the new S 63 AMG should be capable of around 585 hp. Together with the bespoke SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed automatic sports transmission and the optionally-available Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive platform (for the S-Model), the S 63 AMG will be by far the king of its class.

This model is slated to arrive late this year, with the official premiere scheduled for NAIAS Detroit 2014. The range-topping S 65 AMG V12 will complete the lineup during summer next year.
